We've had Melvin for one year and today he celebrated his 2nd birthday. Melvin was a Godsend to us and hopefully us to him. We don't know what happened in his brief life before we got him last August from a dog rescue place but it must have been terrible. He was beaten and was left blinded in his left eye. He was undernourished and afraid of lots of things. We took him to obedience school and he did real well. He loves being with other dogs and oddly enough, he loves people. We cannot even imagine what he could have done to be beaten because he is always good. He is such a bed hog too...but somehow it just doesn't matter. Melvin is so dear to our hearts.
Today he is sporting his brand new birthday bandana!

His birthday breakfast...

Oh, he is sooo excited!

Last August on the first day he was home with us.

Elisabeth and I went to look at Melvin and this is the first time we ever saw him.
We took Will and Dad back with us the next day.

He is so cute! I am with you. We had 4 basset hounds when we lived in Canton and 2 of them came from the rescue. I can not imagine how people can treat animals like they do. And don't even get me started on child abuse........
Susie,
I have been so busy I have not made the time to return e-mails...yours is at the top of my list, hopefully soon I will get to it...
Love you my friend!
