Do you realize how many Chinese have suffered and suffer still because of the Olympics?
Thousands
have been displaced...kicked out of their homes...left homeless,
arrested and persecuted all to make way for the Olympics. I don't know
this answer but I wonder if any
athletes refused to participate because of this inhumane treatment of
the Chinese people? Thoughts of Eric Liddell make me wonder if he
would have refused. I think he would have.
How can we remain silent and act as if nothing is wrong with something when we KNOW it is wrong?
For as long as I can remember I have always had a special love in my heart for the Chinese people. I
have to speak up. What happened to these people to make way for the
"pride" of having the Olympics in their country was so very wrong. I
am ashamed that our country is so sports hungry that we've overlooked
the injustices.
Ecclesiates 3:7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
Proverbs 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Pastor Bike standing with Anna, an orphan girl who has also been persecuted by the Chinese government.

On August 6, just two days before the
Olympics began, Pastor Zhang "Bike" Mingxuan was arrested, along with
his wife and a coworker. In response to these arrests, The Voice of the
Martyrs and China Aid Association have launched a petition drive to
free these three Christians and to let the Chinese government know that
the world is aware that these Christians are being detained.Pastor
Bike, as he is affectionately known, is considered to be one of the
most outspoken evangelists in China. He is a bold believer willing to
cross borders, hand out Christian literature and Bibles, share Christ
with those under age 18 and lead thousands to Christ. All these actions
are considered "illegal," in communist China. Earlier this year, Pastor
Bike pleaded with VOM staff and China Aid Association to create the
China Prayer Bands so that Christians in the free world could know more
about persecution of Christians in China.Sign the Petition to Free Pastor Bike
"Pastor
Bike is willing to do everything that the state church won't do," says
Tom White, executive director of The Voice of the Martyrs. "The love of
Christ is evident in his outreach and his passion for souls. He stands
for everything we believe in and has been mercilessly persecuted by the
Chinese government." read more about Pastor BikeSo far 4758 people have signed the petition.
About one minute into this video report by the BBC on China's crackdown on dissidence, Pastor Zhang "Bike" Mingxuan is seen being forcibly detained by Chinese authorities. He was released shortly after the incident but was arrested again on August 6, two days before the Olympic Games opening ceremonies.

AMEN!
Yes, my question as well. Is this nation so sports hungry that we are willing to turn our heads?
The pastor of the Chinese mission we sometimes vounteer at, when he was in China he was afraid to even email his family here...The government was watching every move he made.
This particular pastor was a medical doctor in China. He has forsaken that to be a pastor here in the U.S. as he ministers to the elite communist of China who come here for research. He is one of the sweetest most humble Christian men I know.
I have the petition and will be signing it today!
Good for you for posting this. Hugs! Love, ~Amelia
great post.
God bless
That is horrible. Thanks for posting on this.
For years, I have been very aware about China's lack of human rights because of Voice of the Martyrs. But I did not know about people being displaced, etc due to the Olympics. That's awful.
Again, thanks for posting about this. I feel so badly for Pastor Bike and others like him.
susie, what a wonderful post to remind us. i have long been concerned about the human rights violations in china and continue to be. i feel that what is happening in china is a nightmare. love, mari
It is amazing to me but when I lived over there in the in the asian communities I discovered how important it is to "SAVE" face. The do it over in the minor issues. They really work hard if they are political people to be viewed as if they are western. It is very sad actually because they do it no matter what the cost.
So very sad....while we were in Korea we met a pastor wo was sent over from the US to go into China to "preach" quietly. They knew the could not tell anyone that they were going over there and had to be careful who they did choose. When they came back to the US they were very careful about who they spoke to in the churches to get support to go back to China because they had said that "people" are everywhere even in the US churches that will turn them in to the Chinese gov't to be arrested and tip off that goverment. (Sad huh?)
I was amazed that there was not more publicity about the water being shut off in othe parts of China to support the water needed during the Olympics in the city of Bejing. Now, those Chinese farmers have lost their crops, etc.
We are pretty upset with all that too. But There is some good coming out of all of this bad in china. There are more people in china coming to Christ then anywhere in the world right now. They don't trust or believe in there government anymore because of how they treat their people. So they are open to the Gospel.
When things get bad people start to look for answers. There are also Thousands of Iranians being saved right now too. I am afraid America will see some bad times too to bring them to that point.
It is the same old story when thing are going along really good for us we forget about the Lord or neglect Him. But when trouble come we cry out to Him and want His help.Or people start looking for answers.
India has suffered a lot over the years because they have been such a Godless nation, as others like them have. But many have come to Know The Lord because of it all too. It is so important that we stay close and walk with our Lord daily and moment by moment being thankful for his blessing and praying for those in need. Also that we listen and do what he has called us to do.
Bless you for your caring heart, but be careful that all the bad doesn't get you down.
We have to remember God is still in control and we can trust Him even when we don't understand. God bless you!! Sharon
