The Hammock
"The hammock is a fabric sling used for sleeping or resting. It consists of cloth or a network of twine or thin rope
which is stretched between two firm points such as trees or attached to
a metal or wood structure. Hammocks are widely used for relaxation in
backyards, cottages, and waterfront areas, and they are carried as a
lightweight type of bed on camping trips. They are also used for sleeping on ships and spacecraft." ~Wikipedia~Back in April, I drove by a yard sale and decided to stop and take a look. I saw a hammock for $3.00 and bought it. That was one of the best purchases I have ever made for my sanity and I soon discovered that my children discovered my secret too.
This $3.00 hammock led us to find some other hammocks and now we each have one and we've managed to hook them all up from the same trees. Will bought his super light backpacking one at a bargain price and it was such a good deal we got two of them. It is made out of parachute material and is quite versatile. You can lay in it sideways or the other, you can be all cocooned or not, you can hang your legs out over the sides or keep them inside.
Personally I like the rope one the best for just relaxing and listening to the birds and feeling the breeze. I was amazed how troubles seem to disappear while laying there looking through the tree branches at the blue sky and seeing what cloud shapes float by. If you don't have a hammock, I highly recommend it, especially if you need to de-stress.
There is just something about being suspended in the air and gently swaying.
We take them inside in the evening or if it is going to rain and only hang up the three of them if we just want to have a little gab session or just keep each other company. But for the most part...hanging out there alone is the best way I have found to let my troubles just evaporate. It is a perfect place to be alone with God.The three of us....My view....

under trees, over roots
I float
below sky, above ground
I rest
beneath stars, beyond earth
I sleep
suspended in silence,
I dream.

HI Susan,
What a coincidence... we were just discussing the need for a row of hammocks last night after eating a very yummy dinner! (Then we decided we'd probably flip ourselves out of them and break our necks!)

I love hammocks and I am jealous! A good purchase indeed!!!!!
Oh, I love them. I've been thinking about getting a hammock recently. Hmmm....now I really want one.
And there's something about nature that is just amazing too. I go on walks to de-stress (as you put it
and talk to God. When I'm out there with the birds, the fields, the woods, and the sky...it's so peaceful.
God bless,
Priscilla
