    Sometimes
I get so overwhelmed with all the concerns of this world...the phone
calls we get to contribute to this cause or that cause or something I read in
the news that breaks my heart and I want to fix it.
    Then
I remember that the Lord is in control of everything, yet, I want to
know where do I draw the line in the things I might be able to do
something about.  My #1 concern is to be a help meet to my husband and
respect and encourage him in all he does and #2 is to train up my
children.  We train them up, we teach them how to keep their paths
straight and honor the Lord in all they do.

    I
have come to really realize we change the world through our children.  They
take what we have taught them and run even further with it.  They take
the lessons and grow them into their own.  They take it all to the next
level and then pass it on to their children and on it goes.  We have to
look at it like that...a biblical vision for the future generations.  We must be diligent so we do not lead them astray and teach them wrong.  It will effect every generation to come.

    So...the
anger comes in when I see the enemy sneaking in and playing his
mesmerizing tune to hypnotize the senses out of people and governments
etc..   To quote Ken Ham....it is time to put on your "Biblical Glasses."
Get them on my friends!  That is the only way we are going to be able
to see through the smokey haze this "character" blows out over the land.

As adults we have the huge responsibility to protect our children from evil...wouldn't you all agree?

    I
have a son who dreads going to the grocery store....not because of the
shopping but because of the check out line.  He does not know where to
look.  He stares at me...looks in the cart...or the candy rack.  The
ends are filled with all those senseless magazines...and ones like Cosmopolitan and
the likes...even some of the bridal magazine covers don't leave much to
    the imagination.
      He
has no where else to look.  We strive for
modesty and righteousness.  There are just some things that are supposed
to be kept private and kept only for our spouses or future spouses....a
gift...a special treasure to be honored.  I am so very grateful for the discerning young man my son has become.  He knows when to shield his eyes and he avoids, to the best of his ability, any situation he can that would cause him to do otherwise which includes his avoidance of television (yes people...even football games on tv) and many films.  We live in a sin filled world and we need to do all in our power to protect our children, especially our young men.
As mother's of daughters we too must be diligent to show them by example and instruction how our dress or conduct can and will harm these young fellows, let alone their own reputations.
My two look out for each other  every day.  Will has always been the modesty barometer for his sister.  She would check with him if her daddy was not at home...often she'd check with both of them.  She and I always screen the catalogs (and sadly even the newspaper) that come in our door for Will.

There is an article (Becoming a Bear)
in the latest No Greater Joy magazine written by their son Gabriel Pearl....and this
article articulates what I feel when seeing the blindness around us.
    Yes,
I am like a momma bear.  Don't mess with my cubs or their friends, directly or indirectly.

Our children...all children..are BLESSINGS from the Lord.
I am going to stand in the gap, as a momma bear, the best I am able.
Anyone out there care to join me?

  • Hmm... I've tried to post from reading my subscriptions several times now, and it seems the post keeps getting lost! If this ends up being a duplicate, please delete one!

Another Momma Bear here! I've been amazed at how fierce I can become when my cubs are threatened! As they venture into adulthood, perhaps now more than ever, they need our prayer and godly advice & example as they begin making their own decisions, and as others try to influence them to stray from the values we as parents have tried to impart. As Christian parents, though, we have a promise from God... they will not depart!

P.S. Years ago, Sara's mom taught me to turn those magazines at the check-out backwards. If all us Momma Bears did that, maybe somebody eventually would get the idea!

  • I always turn the magazines for my boys, but you can do more. Once I asked the very nice lady in the checkout line if she would like some hot sex tips (quietly, of course). She was stunned. I let it sink in a moment, then said that's so totally inappropriate isn't it? Well, I have a young reader here who reads everything he sees, I don't want him reading this when we come here. And I handed her the magazine with that headline. That store is very good to put what they call vanity covers over many of the worst magazines now. And they said all I have to do is ask and they'll cover objectionable ones. Of course, I want many more covered! But I turn them over, or better yet (with maybe an evil desire to knock down the sales of the bad ones, I put a better homes and gardens, or cottage style over them! evil, evil heart o' mine!). And many more embarrassing stories of being a horrible ferocious bear!

  • ps. I said all that in a very nice way...
    =)

  • Be sure to let me know what happens!
