    For the beauty of the earth,
                for the glory of the skies,
                for the love which from our birth
                over and around us lies;
                Lord of all, to thee we raise
                this our hymn of grateful praise.
      DSCF0026
                For the beauty of each hour
                of the day and of the night,
                hill and vale, and tree and flower,
                sun and moon, and stars of light;
                Lord of all, to thee we raise
                this our hymn of grateful praise.
      Dscf0044
                For the joy of ear and eye,
                for the heart and mind's delight,
                for the mystic harmony,
                linking sense to sound and sight;
                Lord of all, to thee we raise
                this our hymn of grateful praise.

                For the joy of human love,
                brother, sister, parent, child,
                friends on earth and friends above,
                for all gentle thoughts and mild;
                Lord of all, to thee we raise
                this our hymn of grateful praise.
          Dscf0053
                For thy church, that evermore
                lifteth holy hands above,
                offering up on every shore
                her pure sacrifice of love;
                  Lord of all, to thee we raise

                this our hymn of grateful praise.

                 For thyself, best Gift Divine,
                to the world so freely given,
                for that great, great love of thine,
                peace on earth, and joy in heaven:
                Lord of all, to thee we raise
                this our hymn of grateful praise.

    Amen

    We had such a lovely hike on Sunday afternoon.  We’ve lived here 19 years now and never knew this reservoir existed!  Talk about being in your own back yard!!!  We knew of the area because the guys go fishing in the creek near it but did not know that if you go up this road and then that path then you would go up this steep hill and round a corner and then just about hit paradise!  It was simply breathtaking and not more than 10 miles away.  Can you smell the pine needles?  Mmmmm….we could!  Oh it was marvelous.   Did you notice the tall pine trees reflected in Elisabeth’s sunglasses?  I did not plan that…I just noticed it when I was adding the picture to the post.   It was kind of windy at one point and Melvin’s ears were blowing in the wind when I snapped that picture of he and Will.  lol
    Every time I thought about the beauty of the day yesterday I kept thinking about this hymn.  This beauty is undoubtedly a gift from the Lord.  How could there ever be a question of his creation?!

  • Oh Susan, the first thing I noticed was the movie, The Bishop’s Wife…I just love that movie…maybe we could put a utube of a portion so others will enjoy it too.  : )

    But I mainly want to respond to your beautiful comment.  I had forgotten that you were also an only child…your comment made me cry, it was so special and so understanding.  I appreciate you very much and all of your encouraging comments you are so sweet to leave me.  I would have come by sooner but I am having a bit of a time getting back with xanga friends in a timely manner.

    I loved this entry, and the pics are beautiful!   Beautiful!   Your children are gorgeous.  Just gorgeous!   Very pretty daughter and very handsome son.  They look as though their portraits should be painted for a Victorian Portrait or something of the sort.  ; )  You and your husband are precious and look very happy!   Life with the Lord makes everything so much sweeter and just like the hymn you posted, it makes His children so much more aware of His creation.  His handiwork is so breathtaking…just like the moon you described in your son’s room.

    May we remember that the same sun and moon that God created shines on both you and I!

    Thank you for being you.  : )   Love,   Amelia  :love:

  • Hi Mrs, Susan!

    Thank you so much for the comment you left me a few weeks ago! I’m so sorry I’m just now commenting back to you! I’ve been super busy lately.   Anyways, I’m glad you enjoyed looking at my pics!

    Your pictures here are absolutely beautiful!  I loved looking at them! And I love that hymn as well!

    Also, I noticed you were watching “The Bishop’s Wife”. That is one of our family’s favorite movies.

    Hope you’re having a wonderful evening!

    God bless! ~Michelle

  • Beautiful pictures Mrs C! I love walking there!  I can’t believe you have never been before… it is so wonderful.  Anyway I am glad that you found it :)

    Miss everyone… school is nuts :D   Did I hear there was a Greek festival somewhere this weekend?

  • Oh, I *love* this post!  What *beautiful* pictures!  They all have such a soft, pretty tint and y’all are such a lovely family!  That hymn is one of my favorites, I would always think of it when I went running on beautiful days.  Then I read about the man that wrote it as a poem (his wife later had it put to music) and found out that he loved to go running out in the hills and being out doors.  When I found out he was a runner I felt that he was a true kindred spirit!

    Ryc: I love those words of Elizabeth Elliot!  They go through my mind often… I think you’re right about what you and Mrs. Sherri said about the business coming seasons.  I had never thought of that, but that is so true!  Thank you again for your sweet encouragement, you are truly and inspiration to me!  Love, ~Marianna
