  • Prayer is the way to open ourselves to God,

and the way in which He shows us our unstable hearts

    and begins to strengthen them.

    Teresa of Avila

The little saying was on my flip calendar yesterday.  I should have read it then instead of just now....but what peace it filled me with even today.  Ever have one of those days...filled with one loss after another?  It was my birthday and I am so grateful my husband took a day off from work to be with me.  Had he not given me that gift or the special surprises he had for me, I would have curled up under the covers and never come out.  I ache for the losses of yesterday and even more for the tragedy in VA.  Yet no loss is as great as the one Jesus gave up for you and I.  Even in my darkest moment yesterday or ones I will encounter in the future...none will compare with the suffering of Christ.  And had that suffering not taken place,  do you realize we would never be able to go directly to our Father in prayer?  THAT would be suffering to the core.  I shudder to even entertain the thought of being out of communication with my heavenly father.
These thoughts have overcome me today...filling me up with awe and gratitude.

    Blessings to you dear friends!

  • thank you so much for your comment on my blog.  part;y i just needed to vent a little, as i am so tired of seeing the bellies of little girls, and v-neck tank tops barely covering anything.  it just gets worse when the girls grow older.

i am so glad you liked your birthday package.  i love cisco, the gardening book i sent you.  i watch him every evening and he's a character.  i hope you learn some gardening tips from him that will be useful to you in pa.

    blessings and love, mari

  • HAPPY BLATED BIRTHDAY!:giggle::sunny:. I hope you enjoyed most of it. I'm sorry to hear that you were feeling down. I think your husband made it a little better.

  • my dear susan,    thank you so much for your kind words you left for me.  i started crying, you made me feel so good.  thank you, thank you, thank you.

i cannot wait to see the pictures from the civil war ball.  i will keep it a secret as to your bloomers. lol  you are very resourceful.  i probably would have tried to make some, as i tend to make it as difficult as possible, instead of ust running to targert. lol  as for the dances, i would think elisabeth and kate would have taught you everything, and you would be mistress of the ball.  who does elisabeth practice on?

how is your garden coming?  mine is slowly but surely becoming a garden.  things are blooming so i can now tell what stays and what is simply a weed and must go.  i hope to reseed the lawn next week, and get a few veggies into starting pots.  i'm not doing much vegetable wise, but i must have tomatoes and pumpkins (the pumpkins are for my pies at thanksgiving).  i may try some corn too.  next year i will do a full garden that we can eat from all summer and fall.

take care and have a wonderful mother's day.

blessings and lots of love, mari
